West Side Whimsy – Wednesday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m – Merced Branch Library, 155 Winston Drive (at 19th Avenue), San Francisco, CA 94132
Discover the unique atmosphere and whimsical architecture of the City Beautiful movement-inspired neighborhoods built west of Twin Peaks. From Art Deco landmarks, West Indies colonials, and storybook cottages to Mediterranean villas, learn from San Francisco historian and City Guide volunteer, Jacquie Proctor, about the Period-Revival style of architecture found in San Francisco’s western neighborhoods and beyond. Both a question-and-answer session and a book signing will follow the presentation.
