Competition for the Sutro Baths!
In conjunction with the A.I.A. Architecture in the City Festival this year featuring what could have been built in San Francisco, 
the Main Library is displaying the competition Architect Harold Stoner faced for updating the entrance to the Sutro Baths and a picture of Stoner’s winning design lit up at night with 37,000 watts of electrical power. Harold Stoner’s Tropic Beach design was described as modernistic, “an outgrowth of the Chicago World’s Fair, coupled with western ingenuity and enterprise: New Sutro Baths.
